Song Present

By admin

I have to analyze and present a song. I chose "Let it Be" by the Beatles. Anyone have any suggestions?

We have to analyze a poem or song. So it is basically poetry analysis and I am struggling with that. I have to find descriptive and figurative language. Plus rhythm. Then my teacher want us to present this. She said we are pretty much teaching the class about our poem. Any tips? Any little thing sure could help me!

A simple approach to analysis is to use the elements of music - after all, music does not exist without the elements that make it up. You may comment on the timbre (use of instruments or voices); the tonality (whether major, minor, modal, atonal, or changes between these); the structure (form); the tempo (speed or changes in speed); the use of pitch (how melody lines move in relation to each other); the duration (whether there tends to be long, sustained notes or short ones, the rhythmic characteristics, use of syncopation, and so on); the dynamic environment (the use of loud and soft, and contrasts between these); the texture (whether there are thin passages with only some voices or instruments active, and others in which the full sound is used); the use of silence for dramatic effects; the use of expression and articulation (smoothly versus agitated; legato versus staccato, and so on); interpretation (the meaning understood and conveyed by the performers); and your overall personal response (what impacts you the most or least, with justifications).

Of course, if your analysis is largely based on the lyrics or text, then you need to look at that aspect in particular, using a literature-based analysis, rather than a music-based one. My suggestions above are based on a musical, rather than a literary, analysis.
