Do i ask to see the nurse or doctor to get contraceptive pill?
Hi! at my local doctor surgery there is the option to see the nurse or the doctor and i never know who you are supposed to go to for what. Well i want to start taking the contraceptive pill but i don't know if i should ask to see the nurse or the doctor for this and i get a little embarrassed to ask the receptionist when the whole waiting room is listening.
I live in the UK if that helps.

this nurse is able to give me injections i have had that from her before.
Nurses can answer your questions and take your vital signs, make nursing diagnoses, etc. The cannot give a prescription unless they are a nurse practitioner.
I'd speak to your nurse about contraception and all your options. She (or he) can help you determine which options are best for you and s/he will have the time to answer your questions in detail and help you understand what they are, how they work, etc. Nurses will have more time to spend with you than a doctor will and they'll be more patient with your questions and needs.
When you've reached a decision about the best contraceptive method for you (pill, patch, shot, ring, IUD, etc) you can see your doctor and have them write the prescription.
EDIT: Nurses can ADMINISTER medications but they must have a doctor's order to do so (unless they are a nurse practitioner, in which case they are able to write prescriptions). So yes, if you were to choose the injection the nurse could give it to you.
